8	Until the other day these political parties were parroting high of upholding the Charter of Democracy (CoD), most shamelessly yielding to the gun-toting Swat Talibans took no time in giving approval to a law called ‘Swat shariat” allowing its enforcement in the Malakand Agency. Those until recently waging a war for the supremacy of parliament, independence of judiciary and swearing to the 1973 constitution in its original form much to the bewilderment of the general public behaved most timidly and surrendered on the ‘one threatening call from Maulana Sufi Muhammad’. Does it not tantamount to ceding the territory to the Talibans and their Qazis to rule the roost? Is there any provision in the 1973 constitution empowering the parliament to allow ceding any part of Pakistan? CoD as claimed to be the second most sacrosanct document had in fact laid down a roadmap for nurturing and nourishing of democracy in the country, but the signatories in contravention of the charter felt no qualm in hurriedly approving the ‘Swat shariat’ in contravention of the charter. The people had no misgivings about the courts in Pakistan giving any relief and justice to the poor Swat girl, who was publicly flogged in utter violation of the human rights and all civilized modes and manners, leaving the world in amazement pondering over what a menace to which the world has befallen. Swat ceding and setting up of its own Qazi courts has come as face-saving to our traditional courts in Pakistan, whose jurisdictions by now have been curtailed and the judiciary, which drew millions in arrears after their restoration as on Nove.3, 2007 positions would feel relieved of facing so soon a challenge of proving their supremacy by acts and deeds. Nawaz’s posture of a crusader of democracy stand thoroughly exposed, as no sooner he got his choice judiciary quashed Sharif brothers’ disqualification, he conveniently forgot the people’s mandate, supremacy of parliament and independence of judiciary etc. etc. instead he willingly and voluntarily agreed and supported the curtailments of their powers and cut to size suiting his marriage of convenience with the uprising Talibans threatening the very social fabrics of Pakistan society. An impossible nightmare that is closer to reality today -- after the sellout in Swat -- than it was yesterday. What I would like to say to Gen. Kayani that what you are getting in Swat -- is no Nizam-e Adal nor a Nizam-e Azal – it is a counterfeit fake temporary ‘peace’ – only a brief temporary respite before the final assault -- because it is well-nigh impossible for the 21st century Pakistan -- to take an about turn -- and march back to oblivion -- into the twilight zone of the Pre-Prophet (PBUH) -- “Ahad-e Jahilia” -- it will never happen – as it has never happened to any country anywhere in the world -- going ‘backward to modernity’ -- you may choose to buy a temporary peace by appeasing the Islamist fascist thugs in Swat – today -- only to have a bloodiest blood bath in a Mother of all Civil Wars – on the subcontinent – tomorrow. Because neither Pakistan as it is today-- will ever allow the women beating young lovers killing girls school demolishing illiterate Talibani thug s and murderers -- to capture Pakistan – nor the neighbors will allow it -- nor the United States -- nor the Europe -- nor the Russians – nor the Chinese -- will ever allow Pakistan to collapse and surrender before the barbarian hordes of decadent fascist Talibans. Swat in the present unnatural setup – as a decadent retrograde regressive state -- within a State – can never last long. A ‘Battle Royale’ between the savages and the civilized of Pakistan is waiting in the wings to take place in Swat or in the Fanatic Fata Land -- if not today – definitely tomorrow – ANP or no ANP – because the Talibans drunk with their obscene ill-gotten power will certainly overreach and overplay their cruel hands – as it always happens with the fascists anywhere in the world – and the Pakistan’s professional army and law-enforcement agencies of about a million men and women will have to rise to the ultimate challenge and chop off those blood soaked greedy for power hands of the crazy Mullah insurgency to its proper size and place in the secular affairs of Pakistan governance. An already fractured Pakistan simply cannot afford a cruel heartless backward barbarian state -- within -- a trying desperately to modernize, industrialize, humanize, democratize welfare State. 8	Swat is a place of exploration, scientific research, adventure and invention. All these terms are prohibited under Taliban shariat. Expedition of mountain and digging its exchequer is another haram for Taliban. Forget about women getting education. Talibans are the most progressive academicians and learned. Talibans are planning to abandon the usage of tame technology in their areas instead they would bring camels, donkeys and horses replacing modern transportation. Destroy all the modern buildings, instead erect the tents, destroy all the paved roads, destroy all automated civic distribution network, destroy powerhouse instead use candles since all these facilities have been invented by non-Muslims and not a single Taliban invented for to Talibans. Talibans would also abandon to use long shalwar dress instead would make it half. Since Talibans destroy all barber shops, they would not cut their hair and let it grow its natural way. Talibans would start amputating hands, legs and toes execute people daily basis to emphasize truly on the justice. Talibans would treat illiterates and educated on one pattern, as this is their justice system where the blinds and non-blinds are the same people. Talibans would preach to read Quran not to understand it. This was the theory of their ancestors also and in result not a single invention is patented in their names. Talibans are proud of their ancestors for this achievement. If the other people are kafirs then don't use their things too. Talibans would also destroy medical colleges and instead open madrassas there to treat the patients. Talibans would also ban all modern economics syllabus and all modern legal system in the country so Iftikhar Choudhary, Aitezas Ahsan, Ali Kurd and alike will soon be on road long marching towards hell. Talibans would also ban TVs and there will be no woman anchors and if there are, they must wear Talibans tent type burqa to read the news. All hospitals would be destroyed too and establish madrassah there to treat people and if somebody needed surgery, they would pray only and there be no need of surgery. Talibans would also abandon usage of water in the toilet instead as is their tradition use stones to clean themselves. Talibans would introduce dress code and order everyone to wear Turbans and loose dress and implement this in their factories also, if there would be any. There will be no need of any safety hat and turbans will be enough. I am sure if these instructions are implemented within few years, whole Swat community will be a crawling lot as hardly people would remain intact with their bodies. Beard would be hanging on the ground and lice will have their fantastic accommodation. Talibans must also destroy all aircrafts as these machines are dangerous and may photograph of their women from the air. Or if they decide to use aircrafts then would appoint Mullah Samiul Haq, Sufi, Umar, Fazlur Rahman, Qazi Husain, Munawwar Hasan and Prof Ghafoor as hostess to serve the guests onboard and name it Taliban Heaven Journey Airlines. 8	Yes, Swat Shariat Bill is passed under the law of compulsion on gunpoint. (Nazaria-e-Zaroorat) as before we observed that the chief justice is restored on the threat of Long March and Dharna. So culture of threat and might is right developing in our country. This bill is totally against democracy and charter of democracy. MQM should be appreciated on boycott (Walk-out) of the parliament on this issue. The need is to find the route causes of terrorism and then find their solutions. The main battlefield area of Afghanistan and Pakistan is Pashtun Area. The Pashtun are fighter nation. They have there own and old traditions. When the child comes in this world the first thing he/she hears is a fire. On the eve of marriage firing is must, on death fire and on earthquake firing. On the occasion of Eid is firing. So their daily life is nothing but firing and fighting. Remember their sayings (Topaq zama Qanun the) they are very different people and they are proud of all this. They do not care what the entire world says about them. They are doubtful about the entire world. They think that the entire world is their enemy. The other thing they believe is that they are the representatives of Allah Al-mighty (God) on the earth and they are born to do jehad (fighting) with sword till the entire world come to believe that type of Islam, which they believe. The minimum condition they can accept only that they are allowed to practice and implement their type of Islam in their area. In my opinion and in the opinion of most of the Pashtuns of Afghanistan and Pakistan, the ultimate solution is a separate state of greater Pashtunistan. It is interesting to note first time all the main political parties of pashtunkhawah agreed on the so-called (Nizam-e-Shariat Bill). This bill cannot be accepted and cannot be implemented in other provinces of Pakistan, but this bill can be implemented in Afghanistan Pashtun area. If the entire world want piece then the Pashtun area should be separated from Afghanistan and Pakistan as early as possible otherwise no end of terrorism. Separate disturbed area and save all other world. Then the new country should be given maximum aid for health and education and can be tried to bring them equal to civilized world, but first separation is must to save peace loving world from fight loving tribes of fundamentalists and extremists. 8	Heartiest congratulation to the President of Islami Jumhoria Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, PM Yousuf Raza Gillani, un-elected Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, all the other political parties members well wisher of Cod and specially Gen Kayani to surrender before Moulvi Sofi Mohammed for restoring his Shariat in Swat. What a historic day will be when this Swat Shariat court will call Mr. Zardari or Gen Kayani in their court for some clarification in some case. Now Sofi Mohammed has also announced that Shariat Court's decision will not be challenged in any other courts of Pakistan. As regards the voting of parliamentarians according to charter of democracy, then it has no value, because all the parliamentarians have been briefed before the session starts that on which point they have to say yes or no. The parliamentarians need seat in the parliament to sit and not to quit. The biggest example of parliament is the recent unanimous voting on this issue. The credit goes to MQM who has very bravely opposed on this issue. They are very right that this practice will start in every part of Pakistan by putting pressure on the govt. one can have this kind of Shariat in his territory. Another example of this kind of issue happened in some area of Sindh where two tribes fought for several years and in the end their heads shook hands for friendship and their rivalry finished. During their fight many women, men and children died and they agreed to compensate each other. This has been challenged in the High Court by the senior police officer of that area. The only one question is this where is Swat in Pakistan? Is this in the jurisdiction of Supreme Court or the Supreme Court is helpless? CJP has already issued orders to present the girl in the Supreme Court, whereas Sofi Mohammed has announced that Shariat court of Swat's order will not be challenged in any Court of Pakistan. This present Govt. is not being run according to CoD. Every time on many occasions they first decide wrong and when the pressure comes from the opposite side they changed their decisions, for example restoration of Judges case, long march agitation, disqualification of Punjab Govt. case, issuing orders to send ISI Chief to India, etc. This Govt. is very week in taking decisions on high level. If this practice, Shariat in Swat will be continued then there is no need of any Supreme Court, High Court and lower Courts in the country. Then don't protest for any drone attacks in Pakistan because it will be increased not only in limited areas, but also in whole Pakistan. Shariat is attached with drone attacks, as long as Shariat courts will increase, be ready to face drone attacks in all those areas where there Shariat courts exist. On the one hand we are begging aid from Americans, on the other hand we are permitting Moulvi Sofi Mohamed to start Shariat, which is against the will of Americans and European Countries, so what is our future. 8	The question is not whether the Swat Shariah is a violation of CoD or not but it is better to ask ourselves whether or not our lifestyles is a blatant violation of God? We should have some hesitation and shame before commenting on religion oriented groups or do we think that we are going to live beyond Pharaoh and never die and never face Allah SWT? Perhaps a good idea would be to read the Quran at least once before commenting upon religious injunctions. No way will I allow the peace and prosperity of Saudi Arab or the revolution and progress of Iran to come to Pakistan. Just do not ask me to wear the veil. 8	An Arab Sheikh is in the desert traveling from one location to another. He camps overnight. It's cold. Early in the evening, after the camp is settled for the night and the Sheikh is in his tent, he hears his camel calling to him "Master, Master, it's so cold out here. If I could only put my nose inside your tent, I could stay warm". Being a kind master he lets the camel put his nose in the tent. A few minutes later he again hears the camel, "Master, my head is so cold. If I could only put my head in your tent, I could stay warm". Again, the master allows him to do this. No surprise... only a short while later the camel is fully inside the tent and there is no room left for the Sheikh. So you get the point, if you give in to the demands of extremists as you are doing in Swat and elsewhere then be ready to leave the tent (Pakistan) at the mercy of these backward butchers who want to force their own version (full of coercion) of Islam through “shar” in clear defiance of the Holy Quran and Sunnah. We already have one national constitutional advisory body called Islamic Ideology Council and now it is up to the government in Islamabad to initiate, coordinate and make sure that all legislation in the parliament is done through consensus in line with the Holy Quran and Sunnah keeping in view the modern contemporary conditions and demands. We have our state legislature, executive and judiciary and no outsiders or non-state actors should be allowed, under any circumstances, to challenge the State or governmental writ in this regard. Be firm to the dark forces of extremism as there is no room for extremism in Islam. Now leaving the besieged people of Swat or Malakand at the mercy of killers and kidnappers is nothing but an act of forced hostage taking scenario in connivance with the lawmakers in Peshawar and Islamabad. Indeed, we have weak and confused leadership in Islamabad and Peshawar, which has promptly surrendered to the acts and actors of “shar” altogether. Even Fatima (RA) the dearest daughter of our Holy Prophet (SAW) was not supposed to be immune under the Sharia laws if she was found guilty of any crime but the champions of Sharia in Swat have already declared immune by condoning the crimes of all killers and kidnappers, including their own kith and kin or son-in-law. Would you like to have the same savage (selective and suppressive) rule in Peshawar, Quetta, Karachi or Lahore? Would you like that your woman folk barred to wear white garments in school or college? Would you like to be barred from wearing pants/coats in your school, college or office? Would you like to have beard or cap on your head against your will? Would you like that all music collection and TV-sets at your home are destroyed? Would you like that someone throws acid on your school going girls? Would you like that schools where your kids get education are blown up in the air? Would you like people who attack, kidnap and cut throats of our security men on duty? Would you like to live and do anything at the gunpoint? Is this Islam? Your answer would definitely be NO, so whatever you don’t like for yourself (as human being) how can you dare push others (your fellow human beings) to that tragic end or miserable ordeal? 8	In what way does the unanimous approval by NA of that crucial Bill (NAR) contradict the spirit or soul of the CoD? Set of lawmakers from across the board elected a NRO dry-cleaned kleptomaniac AZ and it is considered lawful and constitutional. No voice raised, no objection filed and the matter passed in a 'jiffy' - a record in history. The subject, an anamorphous of a rightful action by the consensus of elected representatives, who saw the futility of fueling insurgency by a vicious cycle of violence catalysing vengeance with more violence and more vengeance and the downward spiral jeopardizing the very foundation of the State. They saw a ray of hope, a whiff of opportunity to right the wrongs and put a stop to the mayhem that was a precursor of apocalyptic destruction and death. A sane voice from the leading US daily is worth quoting:" The nation(US) as we've known it is fading before our very eyes (Economic crunch and its horrendous havoc), but we are still pouring billions of dollars into wars in Afghanistan and Iraq with missions we are still unable to define". The principal stress in the CoD is on consensus of opinions from various political parties in the spectrum. Dialog, debate, reason and logic should encompass all aspects of political problems confronting the country. Party in power should not steam-roll its decisions on parties with differing or diametric perceptions. NA comprises members from a broad cross-section of political persuasions raging from secular to deeply religious outlooks. Unanimity, under such circumstances, augurs well for the future of Swat and by the same token of reasoning, well for Pakistan. It is utterly fitful and frivolous to give substance or significance to a counterfeit video purporting to vulgarize the Talibans. The modern world have witnessed the dreadful and draconian punishments meted out to drug traffickers, immoral offenders, murderers and religious apostates in S. Arabia where thefts, drugs, profanity and immorality stand vanquished and vanished from its social and political fibre. There is method in its madness. Deterrent punishments diminish people's propensity to commit the crimes that carry the exemplary retributive justice. The video tended to vitiate the sentiments of the public, foment ill-feelings for the manner and motive of purveying instant justice to the human blemishes and a mordant ammunition into the hands of a tiny minority of Muslims who are bent on dragging the religion to the dock to prove its validity under a fast fluxing world. The bold and brave stance of the NA reinforces the true spirit and essence of CoD. For the first time, the ruling elite and the opponents find convergence in their views and this consonance portends a new beginning, a new era of working together to resolve issues of national significance in amity and acuity. Would our enemies ever wish the elected elders to walk hands-in-hands, in unity and in esprit de corps? That's the relevant question and not the one that headlines the present debate. S. Nasrullah
8	Commenting on this issue like any other one should look at the root cause. Talibanisation is a phenomenon, which has evolved in the absence of justice in the name of justice. With all our fears we will never be able to stop this, if justice at all levels is not given to the society. 8	In order to bring Shariat Law to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, firstly there has to be a consensus on how Islamic Fiqr is interpreted. Certain aspects of Shariat differ in their interpretation according to Fiqr an example is Jamaat Al Sunnat and Jamaat Al Shia both have many laws on which an agreed interpretation is made. The implementation of true Shariat should be for the whole Ummat of Pakistan not just for isolated groups or areas, but again first conformity in interpretation is a must then the agreed methods should be incorporated in the constitution this is a lengthy process and should not be knee jerk reaction due to political expediency. The Pakistan Penal code is in conflict with Islamic Fiqr in many areas so it cannot be run in parallel with Islamic law. Pakistan penal code is a remnant of British rule this needs to be ended. The punishments given in the hands of the Taliban are not Shariat law they are a distorted view of a wrong interpretation the new Qazi courts themselves will be manipulated by the groups carrying out un-Islamic acts. 8	This question needs to be answered in the light of the factual background, which needs to be analysed. Its human nature to accept things over a period of time when long- term measures are being taken. Quran was revealed over the period of 23 years so that the people of Arab would slowly and gradually change themselves according to its teachings. A system cannot be laid from outside on a particular place but the vital element is the willingness of the people, which would only be forthcoming, if the method used to convince them touches their heart. The Taliban of swat have not won the hearts and minds of the people there and it won’t be long that this "coercive version of the shariat " would bear its fruits. We have already seen the hue and cry over the flogging of a girl there. Coming back to question itself the CoD was framed with a view of taking all the political parties on a single platform with consensus so that the nation's voice could be heard. The people of Swat are not accepting this version of shariat, which does not take into account their say in any of the matters. Can anyone in Swat stand up and ask any of the Taliban on what basis and evidence the girl was flogged. Was there an open process? Justice should not only be done, but also seen done. Hazrat Umer was openly questioned about a piece of extra cloth he had as compared to others. Are the Talibans ready to do it, if the people of Swat would like to know how they conduct themselves i.e. not on their whims, but through a proper system. Taliban are being encouraged to practice the shariat in one part of the country then they may do the same in other parts. Is that the will of the people that the CoD envisioned? The categorical answer is no. On the other hand the reinstatement of the judges on their principle stand not to give in has to be commended. The judges stood against a dictator for justice so that no dictator in future could abrogate the constitution. This is the right direction towards a proper justice system, which is badly needed, to begin with. The people of Pakistan, in the face of extreme terrorism, have shown the world that they would stop nothing short of rule of law. Taliban recruit people by saying that our govt. is the puppet of the west. This recruitment would stop if there is true democracy in our country where all the matters are decided by the parliament with the voices of the masses being heard. Only a proper justice system can ensure that people feel safe and secure and have trust and satisfaction that the only criteria to get justice is through proper rule of law. Its time that we have a look at the whole justice system of our country (the reinstatement of judges is a means towards an end and not an end in it self). This can only be done if the CoD is implemented in its letter and spirit. CoD provides a platform for all to come on board and if the intentions are right then CoD would work as a right tool to address the grievance of the masses, which is the need of the day. Atif Kaudri
8	It amazes me how a nuclear-armed state with state of the art weaponry and large number of armed forces can surrender to these uneducated stone-age savages who think they represent some draconian version of Islam. In the meantime our neighbours like China, Bangladesh, India etc will be establishing basses on moon while Talibanisation formerly known as Pakistan would be a state where people will live in caves, men will have mile long beards and will hunt animals for food, while woman would be the new slave prisoner class relegated to a dark corner in their caves for their savage men sexual desires. Glad I left Pakistan years ago. I am working on migrating my mother and dad and once done I will be more than happy to forget that Talbinisation or Pakistan even exists. Asif Khan
8	It was not surprising to read the statement of new religion inventor Mr. Sufi to declare others kafir, whoever does not agree with him. Unfortunately, Sufi is using Islam as shield to make the illiterate people fool. Sufi is the killer of humanity and is the biggest kafir on earth. Killers never prosper. Sufi's ancestor Halaku Khan never prospered and his nation is the most illiterates on earth and eating horses now-a-days in Mongol. Same fate is awaiting to Sufi and his people. Sarwar Husain
8	The innocent illiterate religious Pushtoons have been misguided and they have become enemies of their own culture, customs and future. The Provincial government has shown political wisdom but after all only wisdom cannot solve all problems, the militants movement was for political motives not for religious motives, some years back USA. and Taliban were best friends today they are enemies. Both USA. and Taliban are extremists and have no links to this area that’s why are destroying, killing and plundering. No one can sow the seeds of hatred in our hearts for Islam and our people. We are human beings, and if humanity exists religion will exist. The masses of Pakistan should open their mouths and should demand their rights from the State of Pakistan as the State demands for taxes and patriotism. Patriotism is a two-way traffic, if the State delivers it remain intact, sentimentalism and emotionalism produce euphoria and it cannot solve the major problems. Pakistan’s state and government is used to push the problems under the carpet, and after some years those problems start haunting the very existence of the State of Pakistan. 8	Asif Khan's comments that he is glad he left Pakistan and is trying to migrate his dad and mom, is not the solution. We will not leave the beautiful country for the wantons to flourish and will wage jihad against those who are painting bad image to the peaceful religion of Islam. Umme Mohammad says that Taliban may be little wrong in implementing Islam. Can she explain what is that little wrong. And with this little wrong what message Talibans are giving to the universe. Talibans are simply murdererss, looters and are disguising themselves behind the shield if Islam. We must be courageous to condemn them and ask the curse of Allah (swt) on this menace which is being faced by the people of Pakistan. Talibans are the illiterates lot on earth, there is no doubt about it. They do not understand Islam at all. Islam is for education only and Talibans are for illiteracy. Islam is for the englightment of knowledge, Talibans are for darkness. Talibans can read Quran like parrot but don't understand it at all. Can anyone just give one example where Talibans are beneficial for the humanity, be it knowledge, scientific development, progress, development, education, human relations, human values, attitudes etc etc. Open your eyes my fellow countrymen, see from which terrirotry Talibans belong, is it the place of education or illiteracy.
